From City Pace to Countryside Peace

OUR Story

The Wild Root began with us, Jess and Jamie. After years living and working in London, surrounded by the pace and pressure of everyday life, we found ourselves drawn back to our roots within Buckinghamshire and a more peaceful way of living. What we returned to here was something simple, but powerful. Open skies, quiet countryside, slower mornings and the kind of calm that isn’t far away, just often overlooked.

The Chilterns offer a quiet beauty that reveals itself slowly. Rolling countryside, winding footpaths, grazing animals, hidden pubs, farm shops and a sense of stillness feels a million miles away, despite being so close to London.

The Wild Root was created to share that. A place designed for people like us with busy lives, full schedules, constantly thinking and always switched on. We wanted to create a space to step away. To pause before burnout. To reconnect with nature, with each other and with a more intentional way of living.

We also felt there was often a gap between beautiful hotel stays and countryside escapes, so from the beginning, we wanted The Wild Root to bring hotel-level luxury and thoughtful design into a nature-based setting. Having both worked delivering high-end luxury spaces in London, creating somewhere that felt elevated, calming and deeply considered was always incredibly important to us. Somewhere that feels connected to the outdoors whilst still offering comfort, quality and an effortless experience from start to finish.

We’ve intentionally kept it small, just three cabins, so that everything feels considered and personal. Every detail has been thought through so that when you arrive, you can just be. No planning. No rushing. No decisions to make. Just an opportunity to really appreciate the beauty in the little things.

Slow mornings with coffee outside. The sound of birds. Evenings by the fire. Cooking together. Relaxing. Switching off. Walking together not along busy streets, but through open paddocks, past grazing animals and across quiet countryside to a local pub, farm shop or nearby coffee spot.

The Wild Root isn’t about escaping to somewhere far away. It’s about discovering what’s already here, and giving yourself the space to properly experience it.

Arrivals and departures take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with a minimum stay of two nights during the week and three nights during the weekend.
