Jess and Jamie, co-founders of The Wild Root, with their dog

Founded by Jess & Jamie.

Jess

Jess is a co-founder and runs The Wild Root full-time. She spent five years at St George, working on the client side of London residential developments, and studied interior design part-time alongside her career. She later established a family property development business, from which The Wild Root grew.

Jamie

Jamie is a co-founder with a background in construction and project delivery. He and Jess met while working on One Blackfriars, where he was a contracts manager for a decorating contractor. He continues in his employed London role during the week and spends weekends at The Wild Root.

For Jess, the move to Buckinghamshire was a return to the area where she grew up, with family nearby. For Jamie, after ten years in London, it was a new home. Their experience of delivering high-end spaces, together with Jess’s interest in interiors, shaped a small retreat designed around cooking together, lighting a fire, walking to a local pub and having time to enjoy a morning coffee.

Design & experience.

The cabins bring hotel-level comfort into a countryside setting, with space for outdoor bathing, cooking together and evenings by the fire.

The cabins

Rise has reclaimed timber interiors, a curved reading nook, a stargazing window, a hidden projector and a William Holland outdoor spa bath with jets. Dusk has an outdoor copper bath; Ember has an outdoor brass bath.

Sauna & treatments

Haze Sauna offers private sessions, with cold showers between rounds. The guest treatment space offers massages, facials and other rituals by appointment. Treatments and additional sauna sessions can be booked separately.

Food & the locality

Self-catering cabins are complemented by breakfast and supper packages, seasonal fondue and fireside extras. Ingredients come from local producers, including Peterley Manor Farm and Oxmoor Farm, wherever possible.
